A gargantuan, mind-altering comedy about the Pursuit of Happiness in America set in an addicts' halfway house and a tennis academy, and featuring the most endearingly screwed-up family to come along in recent fiction, Infinite Jest explores essential questions about what entertainment is and why it has come to so dominate our lives; about how our desire for entertainment affects our need to connect with other people; and about what the pleasures we choose say about who we are. Equal parts philosophical quest and screwball comedy, Infinite Jest bends every rule of fiction without sacrificing for a moment its own entertainment value. It is an exuberant, uniquely American exploration of the passions that make us human - and one of those rare books that renew the idea of what a novel can do.

Trying to get a refund. iTunes sent me to hachette, who sent me to ingram, who've yet to contact me. Utter nonsense.

Well, I figured out the hard way why the table of contents stops halfway through--it's only half the book! I am so bummed, I was really loving it. SURPRISINGLY readable on the iphone, and the footnote access is great. But...DAMMIT!

3/5 stars

Well, it's nice

So this is pretty cool, having a pocket size copy of Infinite Jest that I can whip out whenever I need to learn more about Eschaton or The Moms' neurosis. However, there's a few bugs that don't make it as great as I'd like.

1. It's super hard to navigate amongst the pages. Either you go page by page which is excruciatingly slow, or you try to move that slider bar around for over 3000 pages. It's impossible (at least for me) to get to the right page I need and the few times I've looked around at something I've had to go to the chapter (?whatever it is) and then go page by page by page etc... to get there. Suggestion - add a box so you can type in a page number.

2. Can't annotate in the endnotes

3. Clicking on the links for endnotes (footnotes?) of the endnotes doesn't work and that is super lame and incredibly frustrating.

4. Can't click on an annotation and open it up for editing. You need to go into the annotation menu and select from the huge (I assume, unless you're not like me) list of ALL of them. It's nice that it's in order, but I've made a lot of notes and I'm like, only 5% in there.

5. The "chapters" on the table of contents stop halfway through the book. That makes literally no sense, I don't understand this someone help me please.

I think that's all for now. This is definitely cool and I'm glad I bought it, but man there are so many things wrong with this app. PLEASE add this functionality, I will absolutely change my rating to 5 stars if these happen.
